The Art of Bed-Rotting

One of the less-discussed, but very much wonderful things about winter is the opportunity it gives us to indulge in absolute laziness with limited guilt. The colloquial term “bed-rotting“, used most by generation Z and younger, describes the art of doing as little as possible from one’s bed. It is rather self explanatory.

However, bed-rotting becomes a little extra magical at this time of year. There is a vast difference between laziness when one should be studying for an exam, for example, and laziness just before Christmas, when one has lit a cinnamon maple candle and is bathed in the light of a Christmas tree.

While sluggishness and idleness are usually frowned upon, I believe that this is the time of year to enjoy these as much as possible. Get a good holiday film on, secure some wintry snacks, and indulge.
